to save video from youtube (or any other video streaming service) you can use xVideoServiceThief
almost the same service comes as a firefox extension with Video DownloadHelper.
then if you need to convert a video from one format to another you can use one of this free video encoder and converter services:
SUPER (desktop, some issues converting from .mov)
zamzar (online, a bit slow)
media convert (online, good choice but awful translation into italian, maybe worst than my english…)
